Traversing the game world is an eerie experience - it's large (some areas, even on horseback, will take between 5 and 10 minutes to reach) and mainly free of any signs of life. Reaching them may involve some light environmental scrambling, but for the most parts it's a challenge-free process. If you hose the wrong (right?) settings you are pretty screwed.Finding them is fairly easy - when held up to the sun, your sword acts as a compass of sorts, sending out a beam of light which directs you to the next giant you must conquer. I had to do this with my HDTV because there was too much damn overscan. The difference between interlaced and progressive is far more apparent than the difference between component and composite, especially in the areas of "sharpness".See if you can find the hidden menu, maybe you just need to adjust the placement of the image on the screen. There should, however, be a significant sharpness difference between component and composite cables. (Much god damn smarter)quote:Also, it's worth noting that you may not notice the difference between progressive scan and interlaced output and fairly few games will support it. Compared to Fight Night 2 which seems to default to whatever the system is set to, but still has an aspect ratio setting in the game. Burnout 3 for one, and that has no aspect ratio setting in the game that I've ever found. This is not true. Some EA games will use the system's aspect ratio setting. Quote:Also the 16:9 setting in the system menu doesn't effect the aspect ratio of games, games that support widescreen always have their own setting which you must enable. Do you have any other progressive source you can try with it? Progressive scan DVD players are cheap now, and all the other current and recent consoles do progressive scan over component as well. Considering Nerf has the same television and it is working properly you very likely have something defective in your set.

What you can do now is try another progressive source with your TV, this will eliminate the TV (which I think is looming large right now) or take your PS2 to a friend's place or the store and try it on another TV, that will eliminate the PS2 possibility. You have just eliminated the cable possibility. From what we've seen here there are three possibilities: wack cable, wack PS2, or wack TV. but I probally won't) All good ideas-including the thing that you probably won't do. (It would seem like I should test it to be sure at the store. then going to get a different TV/Monitor. Quote:Originally posted by The Master:going to try the Avsforum. (the jaggies were kind of ugly to this normal computer gamer) in theory then it should have made it look a hell of a lot better. I just got done playing "Resident Evil 4" and now I found out on the progessive scan wiki that it supports it. I'm new to PS2 as in only been using it for 2 weeks really. but I'll check the manuel anyway)I have a 5 component cable (not sure what it's called) but yah know splits into the 3 colors then 2 more for audio. (I can't find any other settings for the thing. the TV supports something called gamer mode (which I turned on) but that just seems to shift the colors as far as I can tell. but when I fire that up on Shadow of the Colossus it pushs it to the right corner of the screen. I bought this HDTV it's supposed to support progressive scan.
